The Washington State Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) reported on its website that it received complaints from Washington consumers about loan modification services who alleged that in their complaints that they contacted Fidelity National Legal Services and paid the company fees to perform loan modification services; however, services were not provided, the fee was not refunded, and the consumer’s inquiries were ignored.
DFI reports that Fidelity National Legal Services is not licensed by DFI, nor registered to do business in the state of Washington by either the Department of Revenue or the Washington Secretary of State.
Fidelity National Legal Services has been associated with an address location of 8333 Foothill Blvd, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730. DFI’s reports that its research indicates that the original company may no longer be active; however, these types of operations are often closed under one name and re-opened using a different company name.
DFI strongly recommends that consumers deal only with those lenders that are properly licensed to conduct business. Consumers can determine whether lenders are properly licensed using the “Verify a License” feature on the DFI’s website.
